The State Finals
Megan made it to Gold states this year in gymnastics. That means she competed with the best in her level. She was one of 476 girls to compete in two days. In her section, she scored as follows: Vault 9.40 3rd place, Bars 9.40 4th place, Beam 9.35 5th place, Floor 0.325 4th place, All-Around 37.475 Silver Medalist, team score 115.25 First Place. Of the girls that competed she held third place on her entire team, and was not lower than 25th in any event. The girls who competed were between the ages of 7 and 12. She is moving to the next competitve level for fall competition. She will be a level 6. She is quite an awesome little girl. While traveling out of state and in state for her meets she does miss some school. She keeps her work done and it at the top of her class. She enters the fourth grade in the fall.
Jason has been learning to play soccer. He loves it. He also does recreational gymnastics. He will be participating in Bravo next week-end. That is the fun meet for him. He is getting excited.
It has been a heartbreaking week. A long time friend and second mother to my brother, sisters, and I passed away. I cannot imagine how devistating it will be for her children. We met while camping when I was 8. Both dads worked for GM at the time. We spent many years camping and even visited when they moved out of state. In fact, last month I spent time with their oldest who is my age. It was great seeing her and getting reacquainted. It is a sad time. I am thankful that my parents are in good health. I cannot imagine losing one of them.
The school year is winding down. I am thankful for that. This has been a bad year for moral. I am not looking forward to next year as it will only be worse. Too bad the kids are caught in the middle. School should not be political fodder. There needs to be a way to fund it that is not taxes, but I don't have the answer.
I have big plans for the summer. Will be taking a summer class. Am going to a writer's conference. Will be pitching my book Secrets to an agent. Hopefully the next book will get some suggestions and be ready to go on sale in the fall. Then I have an idea for some teen fiction that I am letting simmer. I want to think about it and see where it goes first. Something that has roots in my childhood summers. It should be interesting to see what I can do with it.
Happy reading all
