Spring Break Was Great!!!

I'm back and somewhat rested. I had a great time in Vegas. I was able to go to Fremont Street and see the light show. Didn't leave all my money in the Casinos. It was nice.

We are entering the last six weeks of the school year. Some of the kids are already on summer break. That is a shame. No one expects them to be responsible for their homework or daily behavior. I just don't understand.

Jason turned 5 today. He is a happy little camper. He gets to go to school in the fall and he has a new bike. What more could a boy want?

Book sales are doing well. Those who are reading it are telling me how much they like it. I must confess, I have started some preliminary work on a second book. Will not start the real work on it until school is out. So I will have all summer to get it right. I am sticking to mysteries at this time. I don't know if I will try a different genre or not. Time will tell.

Right now I am ready to spend some time getting my rock garden planted and repotting some house plants. I'd also like to do something with the flowerbed by the house. Inside the house needs some serious cleaning so I will be busy for the next couple of months.

I will try to make time to write daily, and walk daily. My mental health and physical health require both.

Trying to Think Spring

With the wind still howling outside my window and the rain making it a grey day, I'm having trouble believing it is spring. Mother Nature has teased us with a couple of nice days and then the temperatures drop again. I am so ready for spring.

I see the lilacs trying to bud and I hear a few song birds in the early morning, but I'm not feeling like spring. So with spring in mind I am starting to pack my bag for spring break. I am looking forward to the dust heat of the Nevada desert. I am looking forward to the changes that have been made in Las Vegas. I know that Steve Winn imploded the Desert Inn and icon of that city for years and has built a new hotel. I understand the people mover is now up and running. Taking some of the foot traffic off the strip.

I have some things I would like to see. The aquarium at Mandalay Bay that you can walk through. The lion habitat at MGM Grand. I have always wanted to see the antique cars at the Imperial Palace. I may even take the bus to the Rio where I hear they have the best buffet in town. I am looking forward to the atmosphere of Vegas. It is a one of a kind place. I plan to do a lot of walking. I have a good book for evenings and I'm packing my suit, although I've never been able to use the pool. I never give up trying. I find it odd that the pool closes at 5pm. I'm usually ready for my swim at about 8pm. I just know I am looking forward to some rest and relaxation.

As always I will have my pad of paper handy. I am looking forward to connecting with a friend who lives in Vegas. It will be good to share classroom war stories. She is a first year teacher and I am finishing year 17. She is looking at it as an adventure and I am looking down the road at retirement. It will be fun to see her.

I hope all of you have a restful and relaxing spring break.
